Here's a great project for those interested in tapping into the often strange world of Very Low Frequencies (VLF).  G3XBM shows us his latest VLF "earth-mode receiving system" using a simple tuned loop, a single FET impedance converter, an external USB sound card, and an ASUS notebook running Spartan Software.

If you have a few spare hours during the week, why not try this VLF antenna?
The "radio basement" is a fun place to explore.
