Simple Ham Radio Antennas

If you need an easy to build, inexpensive gain antenna for the 20 meter band, then this basic Delta Loop Antenna may be what you need.  Denis (VE3BF) has done an excellent job of presenting this antenna, which can be used at your home station as well as for the annual ARRL Field Day exercise.  If you use balanced feed line, a 4:1 current balun, and a sturdy antenna transmatch (i.e. "tuner"), this basic design can be used on any amateur radio band between 20 and 10 meters. I've built several delta loop antennas in the past and find them quiet and fairly stealthy in crowded urban neighborhoods. A 20 Meter Delta Loop Antenna is an excellent antenna for those of us with limited space and an even more limited budget.  As Denis (VE3BF) explains, the delta loop has a modest amount of gain (a little more than 2dBi), receives well, is fairly quiet, takes up little space, and is cheap to build, depending on what resources you have in your community.  You can change polarization (vertical and horizontal) by feeding the antenna from the top, bottom, or corner.  If you chose to feed your 20 meter delta loop with balance feed line, you can get coverage from 20 through 20 meters.  An excellent antenna at a modest cost.! If you can't see the video, please insert this title URL into your browser search box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq-9TAcCnxE Here's an easy, inexpensive, and versatile antenna from Denis (VE3BF).  The classic delta loop antenna can be used for both home and field use.  The antenna exhibits modest gain and can be vertically polarized by feeding the antenna at the bottom.  To get multiband performance (20 meters through 10 meters), use 450 ohm ladder line, 300 ohm TV twin lead, or homemade 600 ohm twin lead in conjunction with a 4:1 balun and an antenna transmatch (i.e. "tuner").  I've built several variations of this design for 80-10 meter coverage.  Best of all, most of the materials can be found in  your "junk box" or at the nearest building supply or home improvement outlet.
